POSTCARDS - 11.04.2014.

Here are a few scans of some of the postcards that I bought whilst in Italy. They all range from photographs, images of Italy to exotic countries. I think that some of these would work really well amongst my current imagery or worked into other images too. A lot of them have writing on the back too so I am excited to play around with the text to see how I can use it in my own work.

JACOB HOLDT: 20.02.2014.

SIREN CITY: 20.02.2014.

FAUSTO PODAVINI - 20.02.2014.

ERNESTO BAZAN - 20.02.2014.

IMAGE RESEARCH CONTINUED - 4.02.2014.

I'd taken these photos from a more recent trip to Italy and are a mixture of a village called Tolfa, where my dad lives, and Rome. Comparing them to the previous photos these are more focused on landmarks, architecture, settings and specific objects. Although there are a few shots of family members mingled in between! I haven't uploaded all of the photos from this holiday on here since there are too many but this is just so you can get an idea of what I am working with.

GLI ETRUSCHI MITO E REALTÁ.

These are a few more scans from another book I found during my research gathering. I've really been trying to find lots of landscape imagery and I think I've found some good ones to work with, these included. I like how they are all in black and white since they'll be easy to layer over my work but it might be nice to add some colour to them on Photoshop and see how that works out.

L'IMPERO DEGLI INCAS.

Keeping with the theme of scanning old books in, I came across another lovely one from my grandmothers collection. The book is all about the ancient Incas and Mayans and speaks a lot of their study of the sky and constellations. It has some great photos inside of landscapes in Mexico and Peru so I thought they would be great to scan in and again apply them to my collages.

L'ASTROLOGIA CINESE.

These are a few scans from a Chinese Astrology book that belonged to my grandmother. She was always fascinated with constellations and star signs so I have lot's of old books that belonged to her which are all so brilliant! This one in particular has lots of lovely drawings inside, along with diagrams etc so I thought it would be nice to scan a few of these in and see if I could include some of the images within my own work. I think a mixture of old imagery/pages would work really nicely with the more modern, clean star signs I've been making.

RESEARCH - IMAGES.

I've been looking at using different backgrounds to place my images on and using PS it allows me to scan in my own backgrounds or other found imagery. These are just a few that I have found and decided to play around with to help start me off. They are just scanned in notebook pages, brown paper and I even came across some love letters/old recipes to work on top of.
